The government announced yesterday that the entire country will move to Phase 3 of the Omicron response as of 11:59 pm yesterday night.
This means the government can keep hospital beds free for people who are vulnerable and need medical treatment.
At Phase Three
RATs (Rapid Antigen Test) will now be the primary method of testing at Phase 3.
Anyone with symptoms must isolate and get a test immediately
Confirmed cases need to isolate for 10 days
Household contacts need to isolate until the confirmed case completes 10 days
Only confirmed cases and their household contacts will be required to isolate. Other people, or close contacts, will need to self-monitor for symptoms and do not need to isolate.
The government is advising greater self-management. Positive cases will be supported via a "self-investigation tool" so they can notify contacts themselves.
What to do when you get your RAT results:
If you get a negative test result and do not have symptoms, you can go to work.
If you get a positive test result, you must self-isolate immediately.
If a result is failed or indeterminate you must take the test again. Workers must re-test if it was their first record of the day or isolated.
